Who Is This Guy and Why Does Everybody Want Him?

Hey all. A question from my Diamond Give Away site portfolio. Who is Bob Bailey and why do I get numerous trade offers for him on a daily basis on the site. I have a 2011 Bob Gibson diamond that gets lots of offers.....

(I still haven't gotten the right one yet but he is up for trade) and that's very understandable but after him I get the most offers on this 73 Topps #505.

Why? I never heard of him, the Expos are not exactly many team collectors target, it looks like the basic spring training pose, I just don't get it. There are 230 of them unlocked. I have several cards pre 1970 that don't get near the attention that this one does. Is he an undercover super hero, pehaps the card has gold flakes inside. Please, all you knowledgeable bloggers out there tell me why this is the second most requested card in my virtual collection. Let's hear all your theory's out there.

Joy Of A Completed....Name! and A Contest Plug.

Hey all. Almost the end of a very busy work week (got called in to work tomorrow again) and I have a "Joy of a Completed" post to share with you all. I have a completed name I have been working on for a while. I am fairly cheap when I shop for singles on e-bay, COMC, the LCS, etc. so this took some time but I finally got the last letter of the 2009 Topps Finest letter patch autos for Bobby Parnell.

Oops, I cut the last "L" off but it's really there.

That's better. These manu letter patches are serial numbered to 170 and he did a nice job with the signatures on fairly thin letters. The "R" was most elusive and last letter I needed and it finally came a couple of weeks ago courtesy of an e-bay auction that stayed in my price range. The timing is great as Mr. Parnell has a real chance to become the Mets closer since the trading of K-Rod to the Brewers for a couple of unknown players to be named later. Terry Collins says he will determine his ninth inning pitcher by the situation but we all know that the hot hand will get the job after a couple of weeks go by and somebody stands out. Bobby can throw gas so if his control holds up he has an excellent chance to secure the closer role.

     I also grabbed this sweet looking blue refractor /25 along the way. My next letter project may be the John Niese letters from 2009 Finest and Josh Thole letters from 2010 Finest as I have a couple from each already so if anybody has any let me know.

   On the contest front, go on over to Plaschke Thy Sweater Is Argyle and jump on in his first contest before it's too late. He has a great blog from out west and is an awesome trader so you can't lose.

Some LCS Scores! and I have an auction running.

Hello all. I have a few scores from 2 of my LCS's. First up is some stuff from the shop I work near sometimes and a couple of weeks ago that was just the case so here are a few highlights.

In honor of 3000 and then some I have to show the Jeter 1997 UD3 Future Impact. They couldn't have a better subset to put Jeter in. The picture sucks but the silver part on the right side is actually transparent with another image. Congrats on a hell of a day in you quest to reach 3000 hits Mr. Jeter.

A nice Pagan RC, a bargain box Zeile jersey and a good deal on the Pelfrey manu patch were fun too.

Mike, the owner, also gave me a sweet deal on these 9 Mantle cards. They are the first 9 in a 19 card set from 1996 Stadium Club Members Only. He told me they were one per box at the time so I hope chasing them is doable. Now I begin the search for #MM10 thru MM19 so if anybody can help, please drop me a line.

Next I have some goodies from the other LCS I frequent. I was on the way to pick up my two dogs from "kennel camp" yesterday and the shop is on the way so when I volunteered to go pick up the dogs after a nine hour drive back from NC I certainly had some other motive in mind as well. I feel a little bad when I go in there now since the owner died back in March but the guy (John) running the shop for his wife is also very cool and certainly is doing a fantastic job keeping the shop alive. He in fact said he was glad to see me as he found a few binders in the back while organizing and thought I may like to check them out since he knows how much I like relic cards. I am surely glad he did as here are a bunch I found to my liking.

A couple of Curtis Martin's and a Leon Washington jumped out of the football side and I grabbed the Giles on the sweet patch alone.

What can I say about this group, a couple of Gwynn's, Palmer and Murray representing the O's quite well and Bo knows dual relics pretty nicely.

The two biggest (at least by price) finds are these Ripken and George Brett cards. My first Brett and second Ripkin (Shushi Platter got me my first) relics are awesome. John was quite fair on the prices on all these so I am real happy with all the additions to my collections. Sorry gang, none of these are for trade as it was mostly personal collection items during these trips although there were a couple of other cards that some of you may see down the road in trades.

On a different note, I have re listed the Wrapper Redemption auto of Randy Jackson /60 (Cubs) I got on E-Bay so again if a blogger buys it I will throw in some kind of bonus cards depending on what you collect. If you are interested send me an e-mail and I will let you know the reserve price and maybe I can lower it a bit for a loyal reader. If you direct somebody else to the auction and they buy it and mention your name I will give you a "finders fee" in the form of some cards also. Check it out HERE.

Vacation Trade Pile Continues!

Today is my last day of vacation down here in beautiful North Carolina in the Outer Banks (OBX). it's been fun doing the trade piles and with two being claimed while I am here in NC let's try to get one more done before I leave. Blog Appreciation: Trade Pile

     Hello all. Today I come back with another blog appreciation feature from another blog I have enjoyed.
     In paying tribute to (stealing his good idea with his blessing) Nachos Grande I will now feature a trade pile (see how I changed it from his "trade stack". I will start with one card in hopes of trading it for a card off my Wanted and Set Needs Table or a card not listed there that you think I may like and don't have. If nobody claims it I will add another card to the pile at random intervals until somebody grabs the deal for the whole pile. It can be one card, five cards, or even ten cards when you jump on board. First claim takes it. Pretty simple yet a great way to make a quick easy trade. I will try to add my own twist along the way in The Buffet's style to change it up a little.
    Again to honor Chris's idea I will offer a Barry Larkin card to start things off.

Hello all. Today I begin a new feature here on BA Benny's Baseball Card Buffet that I have wanted to do for a while. What I will be doing is paying homage to some of the great blogs out there that I read by basically stealing their ideas that I like and using them here. They say if you copy somebody it's a form of flattery and I truly am showing appreciation for stuff I have seen out and about in Blogoland so I hope nobody gets annoyed with me. If you don't like my using of your ideas then please let me know and I will certainly stop. I also will try to put my own little Buffet style spin on some of these so hopefully you enjoy them.
My first blog tribute will be to Cardboard Junkie. The man, the myth, the legend, a man they call Day F was kind enough to just give away some vintage cards at the end of last year for the first person to comment and nothing else so I will do the same. Today I have this vintage card for the first person to comment (and e-mail me your address) with no strings attached.

ManuPatches and Chrome Scratches Are All Right By Me!

Hello all. Still crazy busy as of late but a few minutes of spare time allows me to show off some great cards I got in a trade with Eric over at Manu Patches and Chrome Scratches. Eric is a great trader and I always enjoy when we swap cards. He had some Topps 206's I needed (not pictured) and a cool Razor Letterman I liked and a trade was born.
First some Yanks.

A Ted Williams Keller and a bunch of "Swell" other Yankees.

Mets always look good in a trade package.

A couple of cool Reyes and a load of Documentary's. I have to add these to the pile I have and organize them, it may be time to try and complete the team set. A also love the American flag card and the addition to my meager Ralph Kiner collection.

What would a trade with Eric be without a Manu Patch and a Chrome (no scratches).

The Razor Letterman have really grown on me (probably because of the 2 case breaks I was in with Dennis over at Too Many Grandersons) and this Chris Smith will look great with the other Yankees prospects I have from the set.

Now Serving Sushi Here On The Buffet

   Hello all. To say I have been very busy lately is a huge understatement. Between extra work hours, assistant coaching a couple of my nieces softball teams, preparing for a graduation party for my son, opening (and repairing) my pool for another season, and redoing the landscaping and fence repairs in my backyard along with garage cleaning I have had next to no time for blogging and I really miss it and all you great people out there. I have been able to read and comment a bit from while at work during down time and so at least I get to read some of the great blogs I enjoy out there. To all that I have proposed trades with out there, please be patient as I am working on them. While blogging has been scarce I have been able to acquire cards from my LCS's and other places so trade fodder is coming in. Any way I also have fallen behind on some trade packages so today while I have some time waiting for my pool to finish filling up I will get one done for you.
   While I don't like fish, I have become a big fan of Nomo's Sushi Platter. I actually have two trades in one to cover since we have made a couple in recent months. There were so many great cards so I will show a few of my favorites. Some Goudey and Masterpieces boxes he busted got the whole thing started but as usual things grew into a great trade.
    First just a few of the Mets included.

The Rivals cards a real sharp in person and I love the Mr. Met on the Wright Goodwin.

Some Yankees next.

You know he was breaking Upper Deck so YSL's had to be in there. The Heritage work well for me since I am not buying much of them this year.

Michael hit some of the non Met and Yanks players I collect in each package too.

Vlad, Frank, Andre, Ichiro and even the liar Roger are always welcome into my collections.

It's always a little more special to me when I get players I collect from the team that the person I am trading with collects. These Dodgers fit that bill coming from the Sushi Platter.

All the Hershiser's increase my Orel collection by about 40%.

Some more Dodgers I collect and some juicier cards.

Two green framed (or is it Windsor, I can never remember the Masterpieces colors) look great and you can never go wrong with shiny X-Fractors.

Now the heavy hitters in the two packages.

     The Vlad auto is my first sample of his penmanship, the Ripken is my first hit of any kind from the Iron Man and the Maine is a great looking auto too.

   Thanks a bunch for a couple of super trades Michael and I will surely love to have Sushi here on The Buffet any time!

     Gotta run, the water level is getting high now.

Too Many Verlanders Never Has Too Many Traders! Bargain Group Break Plug Also.

Hello all. Crazy busy at work and home along with many softball games to coach for my daughter and niece has kept me from posting much lately. Today I present just a small sample of yet another tremendous trade package from Dennis over at Too Many Verlanders. (formally Too Many Grandersons). I guess Justin Verlanders no-no against the Jays last Saturday (my sons 18th birthday by the way) has inspired him to change the name, I like it! It seem like Dennis and I are always involved in some kind of trade at all times as since this package of assorted treats arrived we already have begun talks for our next one (I just found another jersey card I think you may like Dennis). This latest Mailer of NY goodness hit all kinds of spots in my way to broad collecting wants. Let's start with the surprise cards and end with the meat of the trade.

    There were several 09 Bowman golds in there, these are my favorite 3 along with a couple of Henderson's and a Ventura. Ventura reminds me of a good joke. How do you make an All-Star player? ............

     Trade him from the Mets! Just as Jeff Francoeur.

    Next the Yankees made an appearance.

More Bowman golds in a great mix of years and brands. He even hit the American flag collection.

Football was more of the focus in this package too. A small glimpse of the Saints he sent over.

    The Masterpieces are sweet!


     Big Blue is next.

The Eli Manning and Y.A. Tittle is my favorite base card from the huge mix he sent on over. There is a small taste of the great stuff I didn't know was coming. Dennis always knows how to hook me up.
Now to the meat of this fine package.

The Humber will look great next to the gold version I have and the Redman has a sparkled blue border like a cross of this years Topps sparkles and Opening Day's blue borders. Both on card autos too which is cool. The Albaladejo looks great also.

More Big Blue treats too.

A fun variety of autos to add to the collection. Moss, Barden, and Bomar sounds like a law firm.

These are my two favorites of the awesome lot.

       D Brick is a nice one but the Aaron Brooks looks so awesome. The Topps Gallery cards are too sweet and thank goodness that they went on card with the auto and didn't sticker this way cool card. Sticker autos don't bother me as much as a lot of people out there but in this case it would have been just plain nasty.

    There it is, thanks Dennis, yet another fantastic trade and the next pile of cards I have for you is growing as we speak.

    On the group break front, Colbey over at Cardboard Collections has another one of his wallet friendly way cool breaks happening and there are good teams left. Some are even only $5 shipped so check it out.

2011 Topps Gypsy Queen Pack Rip and an LCS Score

Hello all. Today I jump in on the Gypsy Queen craze that is the talk of the town so to speak.

my job the other day had me working on the block right behind my LCS so I had to stop in and see what was new and exciting. Some great new stuff in the bargain box was a nice surprise and they had gotten in their Gypsy Queen boxes so I had to grab a couple of packs. At 8$ per or 2 for $15 I was a little hesitant but I figured why not. I don't see myself buying much at that price so I will probably only be chasing Mets, Yankees and a few other players. The owner had just finished a box so these came out of a brand new box he opened in front of me. The mini pack didn't have anything too crazy but they look good anyway. I grabbed the first 2 packs on the right hand stack and left with the hope of some good cards. I will show one pack here and I have one pack over on BA Benny's Pack Rip Cafe. This is the second one I opened so that makes the Cafe's the first. Let's see which one was better.

A Mariano and Jackie Robinson make a good start.

Some decent players but not the cream of the checklist.

A Votto bronze /999 is a nice score.

I like the colored border on the inserts and an Angel Pagan Gypsy Queen backed mini is very cool.

Over all, not a bad pack. I love the feel and the artwork to these cards. The price will keep me from chasing the set so all the cards except the mini and The Mariano are for trade. Check out the other pack over on the Pack Rip Cafe and see which pack was better. While I was at the shop the owner handed me a pile of Topps tribute he just busted and hadn't even gotten them into the case yet but he gave me first crack at them. There were some sweet cards there and some were pretty pricey but he gave me a nice deal on this one so I jumped on it.

I love that it's of him as a Yankee, it's funny how my luck lately has been in scoring great Yankee cards more often then Mets but that's OK, it will turn at some point and my Yankee collection is just that much better anyway.

Upper Deck Hooks Me Up but Is It Fair? Some LCS Scores Too.

Hello all, Today I have a huge score from Upper Deck but it poses the question of how can I get so lucky. Some months back I picked up the 2008 Upper Deck Yankee Stadium Legacy 100 card (blue) box set (sealed new) at my LCS for a nice price on clearance. When I busted it and put it in the binder it turned out that a card was missing from the factory. This Donnie Baseball was the lost card.

I in turn called Upper Deck to inquire about a replacement of the missing card and customer service was very helpful but due to the amount of time since the set release they didn't have any of the card I needed left. The rep then said that for my trouble and lack of replacement, he would send me an auto or something to make up for it. I was very happy to accept there offer since I knew I could find the card I needed somewhere else on the cheap and they did the best they could under the circumstance. After some time passed (the customary 6 to 8 weeks I believe) I had gotten a redemption I submitted a little bit before I made this request so I called back and it turned out that they had lost my request information but once again they were nice and helpful and set up another replacement request for me. After another month or two I received a padded mailer from Carlsbad, CA, the same place I sent my UPC so my replacement was here. When I opened it I fully expected some scrub auto or paralell and was just hoping it would be a card that fit into one of my collections or at worst case be something I could at least trade for something that fit into my collection. Well upon opening the mailer this little card fell out into my hand..................

Holy crap!!!! A Jeter jersey card!!!

Wait, a serial number of 25/25 !!!!!!
Wow, now I couldn't be happier with what they sent me and here in NYC this card could fetch a pretty penny, not that I would sell it. After the initial elation and I started thinking about it I began to wonder if it is fair of Upper Deck to have this card available to send me. Was it an upgrade since they screwed up my initial replacement request? Shouldn't it have been sent out in one of 25 packs that deserved this card or at the least shouldn't it be held a s a replacement if one of the other 24 got damaged? Again I am totally stoked to get this card and certainly won't be returning it for any reason what so ever but it makes me wonder a little bit about what other awesome cards they may have sitting in their warehouse that some deserving collector out there will never have a shot at. Let's hear your opinions on this. I also would love any information on what patch this piece could have come from, I don't ever recall any patch the Yankees wore with red unless it's from a certain World Series or All-Star game and at this time I am to busy due to a fundraiser I am working for tonight to look for the info on it.

I also have a couple of quick scores from a recent trip to the other LCS by me to represent the Mets portion of this post. These 2 came from the bargain box at 2 for $5.

Triple Trade Post From Bones, Hopeful, and a Tomahawk!

Hello all, I continue the catch up mode here on The Buffet with a trade post times 3.
First up are some goodies from Mr Dawgbones.

Some Mets lead off the package.

Anybody who reads the Dawgbones musings knows he collects FatHeads and I was lucky enough to get one of his Wright doubles.

Here it is pictured next to a mini bip he slipped into the mailer to show the size. It's bad enough to bip but to bip a Mets fan with Marlins is just a little bit cruel. Only Braves (and maybe Phillies) could be worse. I will seek revenge at some point Bones.

Here is the gem of the package for me. A Martin 2 color /50 is sweet. He is one of my favorite RB's in Jets history. Thanks a bunch Rich, your return treats are in transit as I write this.

Next up are some products of a trade bait post from Derek over at Tomahawk Chopping. He had some time on a rainy day to put up some traders and I found a few that I am stoked to add to the collection.

A couple of shiny Yankees.

Ike looks good in Opening Day blue /2011. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite current Mets.

A strong part of the Giants secondary signed this sticker for me.

I like the starquest variations so these three get an A+. A rare, an ultra rare, and an uncommon.

A Billy Wagner gray swatch jersey will look nice next to the black swatch I have from the same 09 UD set. A pleasure as always trading with Derek. It's always great to see a Braves fan and a Mets fan get along so well to create fun trades.

These next 2 cards are from Justin G of The Hopeful Chase fame. He's an O's fan who needed to purge these hated Yankees cards from his house.

This Jeter is really cool. The image on the right is actually made up of pin holes in the card. Here it is on a white background .......

and a yellow-orange background.

I am not a huge Shef fan but this one is a great looking card with the flag background. Thanks Justin, any time you need to rid yourself of Yankees, I will step up and help an O's fan in need.

I have been catching up with my blog related stuff as things around here have been extra crazy as of late due to work and family issues. I have mailed out most of the break packages and have the last six teams packed and ready to go out this week so everybody should have there cards by next weekend if you haven't received them yet. I am also trying to catch up on trades with fellow bloggers out there so if we talked about a trade please be patient as I haven't forgotten about it and will get back to you soon.

Trade Post: Cards From A Quarry Hit The Big City!

Hey all. Today I have a great trade with Johnny (aka hiflew) form over at Cards From The Quarry to share with you. Johnny is a great trading partner and has a fun blog over there so it's always a pleasure to hook up with him for a trade. Here is just some of the treats that came in the package.

First some early 90's Topps Mets and Yankees golds. I love the baby face Jeter on the prospects card.

A few golds from my players list and some 2007 inserts ala Yankees. I have several of the Joe D. streak cards now so maybe I will chase that set.

A bunch of Goudey minis. Some red backs, some green backs, some of both.

Mickey Mantle in the house! The three 2006 Mantle Collection inserts bring me to nine of the ten in the set. I just need the 2004 version #MM2004 to complete it.

A gold, a couple of X-Fractors and a Heritage advertising panel with a Yank and a Met on each end looks great.

A David Wright Chicle chrome refractor and my first Reggie Yankee relic (I have one from the A's and one from the Angels) are awesome looking scores. There is a pinstripe tucked under the left side of the Icons window, why couldn't they just move it over 1/8th of an inch. Still looks sweet though.

       These two surprises popped out when I opened the mailer. Gary Carter and Donnie Baseball SLU's. While I don't actively collect these, Johnny is the third blogger to surprise me with these and they will look great next to the others on a shelf in my card room.

My Topps MCG Cards Have Arrived!

Back again all with my haul from the Topps Million Card Giveaway that finally arrived a few days ago. I, like many others waited until the last week to request my cards so it took a bit longer to receive the cards. As you will seeI used the giveaway to add to my team card collection and seriously pursue the 1972 team cards set. I ended up having 35 cards sent.
First up, the few non team cards....

The Dan Napoleon has three creases and the Dennis Ribant is a little beat up with some stains on the front. The others are in real good shape. I cant believe I needed that Piazza but I did.

Now we begin the team cards....

The O's has a light crease, otherwise all in good shape except for some off centering.

These are in very good shape so no complaints here.

The 74's look great, the 66 Mets has some creases and soft corners to go with general wear while the 64 Mets has one crease and a large stain but for their age I guess I can't complain. The 64 Senators looks great for a 45 year old card.

Now begins the 1972 team card quest.

These all look great except for a gum stain on the Angels and a couple off centers. With these and what I have it brings me to 16 of the 24 I need. I am still looking for the Indians, Expos, Royals, Reds, Rangers, Cardinals, Orioles, and Giants if anybody can help.

Over all I am happy with my score from the Million Card Giveaway with the exception of a few of the card conditions and I am glad to add some not so easy to find cards to the collection.

Trade Post Double Header

Hello all. Sorry for the lack of posts but things are once again very busy around The Buffet as my daughters softball season is in full swing so I am out and about several nights a week and a good chunk of the weekend. Once again I apologize and ask for patience from all those I am in trade talks with, I haven't forgotten but time is at a premium but I will get back you. I am also working on getting the break packages out as well. On to a trade post double dip I have for you today.
I begin with a trade with Chris over at Stale Gum. He posted a 2011 Jumbo box break video and the cool part was that he did it from the original Topps warehouse in Brooklyn, NY not too far from where I live. (I gotta go check it out sometime) Anyway, one of the hits caught my eye so an e-mail and some digging led to a trade. My end of the deal netted me a bunch of 2011 and 2010 Topps inserts (which I still need a ton of, list HERE) and this Beltran bat relic.

Looks pretty good too, the Topps 60 relics are nice if the relic piece is bright in color. He also added in some bonus cards.

The 75 set still is one of my favorites. Also in the package was this auto......

The sticker threw me for a second but then the back explains it all.

That's great, and a 1/1 to boot. Thanks Chris, I appreciate the trade.

Next we move to a package from Ryan of '"O" No!!! Another Orioles Blog. He had some trade bait posted so inquire I did. He was also busting some Goudey and set aside some YSL's for me.

He also helped me with some 2011 needs (we have all seen them so I didn't show them) and the Dawson is a 60 Years of Topps original back for the player collection. The meat of the trade were these two gems.

The Humber auto /500 is on card and looks great. I love how he went a little outside the designated signing area, it adds character. The Dontrelle is sn'd /53. Thanks for another sweet trade Ryan, pleasure as always to work a deal with you.

I Continue To Clear the Mountain of Trade Packages With Some SCF Trades.

Hello again all. Not a lot of time today so I will knock out 5 trades I made over on SCF (SportsCardFun.com) over the last few months in a quick mostly pictures post. First I have some loot from a trader named Ryan. He had some Mets stuff I wanted and I sent him some Ginter stuff he wanted so we both came away happy.

I've been looking for that 1970 team card for some time. He also included 7 cards from my Topps insert sets that I needed.

Next up is a one for one trade. I sent a relic trader Jay needed and I got this 2011 Cano jersey.

I like the 2011 Topps relics but this would look better with a home jersey swatch.

I had a Gordon Beckham letter patch auto from one of Too Many Granderson's Epic 2008 Razor Letterman case breaks that I was willing to part with and when I didn't get any real interest on The Buffet post I figured I would post it on SCF. I originally wanted some premium Mets for it but a trader named Sazzy C emailed me saying his son was I huge Beckham fan and he really really wanted the card. He said he had some Yankees since he didn't have any Mets to speak of and since it was for a kid (we have to keep the kids in the hobby) I told him to make me an offer. well an offer he did make and I could not say no. I added a few other Beckham's I had and a few White Sox and this was my haul.

Jeters are so hard to get here without selling a kidney and I am a huge Guidry fan from watching him back in the 70's as a kid with my father who was a big Yankees fan. The Rizzuto is awesome with a stadium seat that looks like it is from his playing days, it's so old and dry. Pepitone was a favorite of my Dads too so it's special for me to get a jersey card from him.

Another trader named Wayne posted about some Jimmy Dean cards he had so I contacted him and we set up a deal. He sent me 2 of these 9 card sets (one is for trade if anybody is interested) as well as a load of 80's and 90's football stuff from the Jets, Saints, and Giants.

I love the oddball small sets like this one. I think they all should be in increments of 9 like this one. (9, 18, 27, etc.) They work so well in the binder pages. This years Topps inserts with 10 in the set are making me crazy. I hate when there is one card extra for the pages.

The last trade I have is from a great guy named Arnie. He and I had made several trades in the past before I discovered the world of Blogoland and all you great folks out there. I did all my trading on SCF at that point where as now it's only once in a while. He needed some 2011 Topps cards I had and I had a few relics and golds he liked so we knocked out a deal and Mets were had by me.

There it is, five more mailers down so that leaves me around seven Blogoland trades left on the pile. Those will get more individual attention. I am looking forward to getting caught up so I can vary my postings so they will be a little more interesting but I gotta show the love to all the great traders out there.

On another note, As I wrote this post I received an e-mail from Topps saying that my MCG cards shipped today so I hope to have them posted next week some time.

I Held A Contest Ended Up Getting Cards! plus A Cool LCS Pick Up.

Hello all. In the pile of trade packages I am beating down, I can see some wood on the desk now, there is a package from the ever popular Night Owl of the legendary blog Night Owl Cards. Funny thing is that we never set up a trade but as he does sometimes, Greg just sent some stuff my way for the sake of being generous. A note included mentioned thanks for the cards he won in my blog birthday contest and in turn he sent me a way cooler package then the cards he won. You rock Greg! Another great part about a Night Owl package is the variety. He hit several of my collecting zones which makes for a fun package. Here are just some of the highlights.

Starts off with the two main parts of my collection, some Mets........

This should cover all the 2006 team cards I needed.

Right on the money, Saints, Jets, and Giants.

This guy really pays attention.

The only two Nascar drivers I collect base cards of, The King and Michael Waltrip. I do collect all drivers relics, sn'd, and refractors. Then I thought it was a cruel joke adding in a Braves card (at least a great player though) but then I noticed the background. That's right, an American flag. The Orel Hershiser card is sweet also. It's hard to tell by the picture but his glasses react differently then the rest of the chrome like Pristine card i9n the light. It almost looks like the glasses part only are a refractor, very spooky looking but very cool at the same time. The picture really doesn't show it but trust me. Thanks a whole bunch Night Owl! It's always a pleasure when I see the Watertown, NY return address on a mailer. It's funny, same state yet so far away.

Next up, I want to show off a score from one of the LCS's I frequent. Today the sun was shining on me (even though it was raining here in NYC) as I found out I won a small NCAA Tournament pool the gang at work threw together and even though I didn't have either of the final two teams, my choice of Kentucky making the final four was enough to score me enough point to win. With that little windfall in my pocket I get my work print for the day and low and behold the cable removal I have to do is actually literally across the street from one of my two favorite local card shops. Lunch hour hit and in I went. I found some great scores today as I went into some different boxes then usual but that's a post for another time. (I had some luck for you also Dennis). The biggest score of the day was this beauty....................

2005 Playoff Absolute Memorabilia Marks of Fame Gary Carter

Game Used Glove, Jersey Prime, Pants sn'd 15/15

This is a super sweet card and the owner gave me a nice deal on it since I am a regular and we always have good conversations about the hobby or life in general. The jersey prime piece is from the patch part of either the stripe down the side or on the shoulder. My favorite part has to be the glove piece. Look at the condition it's in.

That's what game used should look like, beat up, dirty, and used well. You can't see it but there is even a piece of leather fraying off and sticking out of the card. The serial number is even cool, 15 is my daughters regular softball number since she was 8 years old. I wanted 31 but it wasn't available so I went to my next favorite NY catcher of all time and she kept it for all these years.

It was a good day for me, I hope tomorrow is just as good.

Group Break Random Draft Is Done

Hello all. I have finally gotten to do the random draft for the group break. I was waiting on one list and sent several e-mails but I didn't hear back so I will just make the picks myself for that team. In a close vote we will go with the draft positions determined by number of hits followed by total number of cards. There was one tie between the A's and Reds that I broke with the A's having fewer inserts, etc so the A's are ahead of the Reds. I decided to go the same direction both times through the list since the vote was for the people who got less to have the better picks. There were three teams that didn't care what they got so they will just get what's left at the end.

   There it is, the random draft is done. I hope everybody is happy with what they got. I think it went well as I didn't have to go to low on most peoples lists since after the hits the lists were pretty diverse. I know I am happy as I got a bunch of cards for the American flag collection.
   I will now begin the task of packing and mailing the packages. Please be patient as I have a busy work schedule and home schedule so hang in there and I will get them out as fast as possible.

   That brings an end to what feels like the longest group break in history. I appreciate all your patience and I hope it was worth the wait as all teams except one got at least 107 cards (and he got the best random hit)and most did much better then that as far as quantity. We ended up with 26 hits among 24 teams and a bunch of inserts spread around so all in all I think it went well. Thanks again to all who participated!

Hello all. Today I continue to catch up on trade posts with a package I got from Mike over at Ryan's Memorabilia. He posted some trade bait a while back and I had some Ravens and O's he liked so a trade was born. He had a Griffey framed Masterpieces I liked so he sent it along with a couple of his friends.

Beltran and Mattingly joined Mr. Griffey Jr.

Another dozen or so Mets and Yankees jumped in when he wasn't looking. Here are about half of them.

Mike even hit me with some Giants too.

The Y.A. is an awesome card if you ask me.

The gem of the package was a stadium seat card he offered.

A Memorial Stadium seat relic featuring a legend like Frank Robinson is too cool!

    A great trade with a great blogger makes for a great package. Thanks Mike, I hope to trade again sometime.

    On another note, I have finally resumed posting on BA Benny's Pack Rip Cafe  after a bit of a hiatus so go on over and check it out. For those newer readers here, I have another spot where I rip random packs and rate them. I really would love to get some more followers over there so show The Cafe some love and jump on board.

Three Trade Posts For The Price Of One

Hello all. Today I bring you some more trades made over the last couple of months as I continue to clean off the desk that is completely covered with break cards and trade packages.
First I joined the sparkle party over at Nachos Grande. I sent Chris several 2011 Topps sparkle cards for his quest to complete the whole set and in return he hooked me up with some doubles he had for my quest to complete the Mets portion of the set.

Thole, Pagan, and Niese are now in the fold so I need 5 more to complete the team set. As always the sidebar page shows what I need. It wouldn't be a trade with Chris if some other fun didn't fall in the package and Mets they were.

A nice bunch of Mets with the Glavine (center, bottom) being my favorite.

He also included one of his blog decals he got from Build ASign (a sponsor of mine also, see their link along with another soon to be new sponsor here at The Buffet on the side bar).

Thanks Chris, another fun with you as usual.

Next up I have a package from Jason over at Clear Cut Cards. He is a fellow Mets fan and one of the first people I traded with when I started this blog a little over a year ago. we had a nice 2011 Topps for 2011 Topps needed for each others sets.

All good additions to both the insert sets and team sets. The Jeter is one of the Target exclusive inserts and looks great. Thanks Jason, always a pleasure to trade with you again.

The third of this trade trifecta is a quick deal I made with Chris from a new blog (to me at least) I found a couple of months ago Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz. He has some Topps 52 chromes /1952 that peaked my interest so I offered him, you guessed it, Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz cards. I even snuck in a couple of Glavine Mets dups I had. I gotta tease a Braves fan when I get a chance.

The chromes look much better in person as my camera skills weren't on point today. He surprised me with the TOG 69 Mets and the Reyes Moments and Milestones /150. Thanks Chris for a cool trade, I look forward to doing another one some time.

There you have it, 3 more packages cleared from the pile, I think I saw a bit of the desk's top for a second before another package slid over it. Maybe I will do that one tomorrow. Don't forget to vote on my poll (top right side bar) on trade post preference.

Ebay Scores As I Try To Clean Up My Desk

Hello all. Today I have a video of a bunch of E-bay pickups from the last few months that I have been meaning to post. I went the video route so I could knock them all out at once. Now all I have to do is get to all the great trade packages I am behind on but those deserve more detail so they will be posted one or two at a time.

Trade Post- Mom Always Told Me To Wear A Sweater! Some Plugs and I Need Some Lists.

Hello all. Today I begin to catch up on trade posts that I have been holding off while doing the break. I will begin with a great trade with Greg of Plaschke Thy Sweater Is Argyle. He had a couple of cards on his Trade Bait page that interested me and he liked a 2008 Razor Josh Linblom auto /5 that I had and from there things expanded into a fantastic trade.

This is a small taste of the great Mets and Yankees he sent over.

He also sent a bunch of odd sized cards of players I collect. The Puckett is a framed SuperSlam card that opens like an easel to stand up. I never saw one of those before.Not one of the cards in this picture are of the standard size.

He even hit some cards from the three NFL teams I collect. Here are some of them.

And the cards that started it all.

The Soriano and Giambi of course caught my eye. He then mentioned he had a nice Lundqvist dual jersey /150 that I may like. While I don't do a lot of hockey in my collection and the Islanders are my favorite team (with the Rangers being second), that card is certainly a keeper so I said sure. The McFadden is a patch /25 that I liked as well. This is more of a case of liking the card more then the player plus I have the regular jersey card from this set so this parallel will fit in well.
There you have it, a great trade with a great trader and cool blogger that I will definitely trade with again. Thanks Greg!

Next I want to plug a couple of things out in Blogoland. First is a contest over at It's like having my own Card Shop where you guess a number and can win a jersey card so check it out. It's been a busy weekend for me so I'm not sure how many of you have seen this but here is the info I got in an e-mail from the SCF trade site I use sometimes.

MLB Network to air hour-long special this Tuesday called "Cardboard Treasures", a look back at the history of Topps. During the 2011 baseball card season, Topps will continue to celebrate their 60th year in the baseball card business with various promotions. Topps and the MLB Network have teamed up for an upcoming special called "Cardboard Treasures". The theme of the show revolves around Topps' 60 years in the baseball card business. The hour-long retrospective will air this Tuesday night. Below are all the show details for your convenience.

Air Date: 3/29/11 @ 10:00 PM EST in most areas.

Attn. All Group Break Participants: Break Cards Random Draft List and A Plug

Hello all. First off, now that my brake is just about over you can fill that void over at The Daily Dimwit where Sam is hosting a group break of his own. He's cracking 2 boxes of 2011 Gypsy Queen and if we can fill all 30 spots he will add in another box of something else so head on over. I did my part with 2 teams so step up and join the fun, good teams are left. Now onto my business at hand.
     Here is the list and pictures of all the cards not team related from the break that will be drafted by the break participants. What I need from all of said break participants is an e-mail with a list of your order of preference of cards for the draft. When I get all the lists I will begin the draft. Also leave your preference of how I set the draft order in the e-mail. The choices are:
    A) Set the order by the amount of cards received in the break starting with the number of hits and then total cards so for example if a team got 1 hit, all the teams with 0 hits would be listed in front of that team. The order of teams with equal number of hits will be determined by total cards with the lowest number first and so on.
    B) List all teams on random.org and mix them up 5 times and go with that order.
    Keep in mind that we will go in reverse order the second time through the list.

We have 58 cards from the break and I added 2 to make it an even 60 so each team gets 2 cards. If you have more then one team each team gets the 2 cards but I still just need the one list. Please include your names and team(s) you had. Check out the list and send me your order for ALL 60 cards.

Break Multiple Player Cards Randomed Off And The Plan For The Rest.

Hello everybody. I have randomed the break cards that represented more then one team and the video shows who got what. Forgive me for the excessive camera movement as I was switching between windows while holding the web cam so it moved around a little bit but all the randoms should be represented. The video is about 27 minutes as it took longer then I thought it would so feel free to skip ahead to the cards that involve your team(s).

As far as the other cards that don't fit into a specific team category, I will post the list of cards either tonight or tomorrow and then each break participant will e-mail me a list in the order that you would pick the cards. If you have more then one team I still only need one list. I will then list all thirty teams on random.org and shake them up 5 times to determine the draft order. I will then distribute the cards in the order you selected them in the order of the team list if that makes sense to you. The second time through we will go in reverse order so if you pick first your second pick will be last. We have 58 cards to pick so I will add 2 cards so that each team gets two cards from the lot. I was going to try and do some kind of live draft but to get over 20 people together for what amounts to 2 cards for most, it would not be worth the effort that everybody would have to make so this seems like the easiest way while you still can get a say in what you get depending where your team(s) fall on the list. The Break End Is Here! (Well Almost)

Hello all. I have completed opening everything for the group break and videos have been taken so now all you have to do is grab a beer (or 2), or whatever you like as I have here for you the last 5 videos of the remaining bonus loose packs and the last box (2009 Topps 206). The total running time of all the videos is about an hour and forty-five minutes so sit back, relax, and enjoy. I don't think I put the videos in order that I made them so if something doesn't make sense that may be why but it shouldn't matter as far as the order of the packs.

The count page is updated to show the final tally of cards for each team. There are 59 cards to be randomed among the 30 teams so each team will get 2 of them (one of my teams will only get one) and I will random the 2, 3, and 4 team cards as well. The way I will do the random among all the teams is to have one of my kids sort all the cards into a random pile with the hits mixed among them and then I will random all the teams on Random.org and the order they come out is the order I will distribute them with all teams having a chance for the six hits.

There you have it, the end of this marathon group break. I have had a great time doing this break but at the same time am glad it is done so I can get back to normal posting and I have trades that are in progress that have been delayed so I can devote the time to getting them done. I also have a big pile of great trade packages to post about so I look forward to that. I hope you all enjoyed it and I will probably get the random up tomorrow providing nothing unexpected comes up.

Back With A New Laptop Part 2! Signature Stars Box for the Break

Hello again all. I am back with the second box of 2009 Signature Stars and some bonus packs for the group break. I apologize for yet another delay as the new laptop I got turned out to be a piece of junk and NOT what the salesman promised me as far as performance as evident in my last set of videos so I returned it and scored a different new laptop (from a different store) but had to wait til Sunday for the sale price ($200 cheaper) and am very very happy with the outcome of this purchase. Anyway on with the break. I don't have a lot of time due to fantasy baseball draft tonight so the count page will be updated after the next break post. I'm Back With The Group Break

Hello all. I am happy to be back with a bunch of loose packs for the group break however I must apologize for the poor video quality. I seems to be choppy and I will be working on that as I move forward. I am not sure if it is a software problem or a problem with the new laptop. While it's a bit annoying, I think all the cards are still seen and the audio seems to be OK except in one spot. On we go.....

Over all, some good stuff. Two hits and a bunch of non base to go around. I believe 24 out of the 30 teams got at least one insert, parallel, sn'd, and/or hit. We are in the home stretch with two boxes and some bonus packs to go in what has become a marathon group break. I hope everybody involved is enjoying it so far and doesn't mind how long it has taken to get through.

Hello all. I come back with good news today and the last pair of documentary teams along with the promised auto and a winner of the little guess the auto contest. First up the good news. I have secured the funds through some side work, scrimping and scrounging, and a few skipped lunches to go and pick up a new laptop that's on sale. All the stars lined up just right with the timing of the sale and some extra side work that came along at just the right time and my very understanding wife who helped me secure the funds needed for a needed laptop. Technical Difficulties Have Hit The Buffet and A Documentary Team

Hello all. It's been a few days since I have posted here for a few reasons and I am not happy about it. This weekend became a washout after a surprise work day Saturday and a huge rain storm Sunday that resulted in some basement flooding, no real damage thankfully but still a pain to clean up. The bigger problem is that technical difficulties have hit The Buffet. The two USB ports on my computer have stopped working and after several hours over the last few days I have determined that they are not repairable (for a reasonable price at least) so I am basically stuck with no way to upload pictures, scans, and videos to my computer and then the blog of course. Needless to say I am not a happy camper at this time. We are approaching the home stretch of the group break and I have a bunch of great trade packages to show off as well as some other great stuff to post about. I now am forced to pause the break since I take video or pictures and it's WAY to much for a lousy typist like myself to type out all the cards. I hope to find a resolution to this issue by the weekend and get back on track. My posting will be limited til then but I can still read and comment on all your great blogs out there. I also lost a lot of time I planned to work on trades I have working out there so please be patient if we have a deal in the works as I will get back on that as well. Sorry for the inconvenience but I will figure something out ASAP.
I do already have the rest of the Documentary teams in my files so I can at least finish that part of the break as I remedy the situation. Next up................................

Some Plugs For Happenings Out In Blogoland.

Hey all. I have been stuck working a bunch of overtime for a project at work this week so time has been scarce. I will get the group break back in full swing this weekend as today should be my last late day. I will throw a few plugs out there for today as my partner brought his laptop in and we have a little down time.

Now the group break continues to roll along with some more loose packs and two more teams from the Documentary are revealed. The boys are back so that can only mean one thing. You'll have to watch and see who got lucky today.

For those who counted along, it was only 11 packs plus the 2 bonus packs as I forgot one of the 2o6 packs. It will be added to the next bunch we rip. Our luck has been great with the loose packs as far as hits coming out. If my math is correct, we have scored 8 hits from loose packs which is all luck. The other 5 were guaranteed from the Signature Stars box (4) and the 2010 Upper Deck blaster (1). We still should have at least 7 more hits including the one from the Documentary that has yet to be revealed. Let's narrow that one down to four teams with these two being shown.

When Megan from Build ASign contacted me about a possible sponsorship, she couldn't have been nicer and more helpful and we decided on three products for her to send me to show off and review. First up some bumper stickers.

Here is a loose bumper sticker before application to one of my card binders. Notice the white border. That is actually the backing paper cut larger then the sticker for easy removal. These are made of a vinyl material and feels pretty strong.

Here it is applied to one of my Mets game used binders. I pulled a couple of cards out to show a size comparison (I had get some cards in somewhere). I created the design on their website which is very user friendly and even uploaded the image in the bottom right corner. It's an abstract picture of a pack of cards and some loose cards and it transferred to the sticker exactly as it appeared in the proof. The upload process is really simple too.

The next item is a licence plate. This design was done on the site as well and their selection of fonts and clip art is very good.

This is two plates so you can see the back and front. They are made from a good gauge aluminum and the image appears to be a plastic/rubbery type of material that seems to be layered onto the aluminum and not just painted. The picture shows a texture like finish and that is how it feels.

Finally I was given a 5 x 3 vinyl banner for my card/media room and it looks great. The same design from the license plate was used and it blew up fantastic.

It's hard to tell from the picture but it looks real sharp. It's a fairly heavy vinyl stock and the corner grommets feel pretty strong.

All in all I am very happy with the stuff Megan sent me and highly recommend Build ASign for your sign needs. They do commercial and personal products from their templates or your own design. Check out their site, I have a link on the side bar and the top of this post.

   Hey all. Grab a couple of beers and have a seat because today's break installment consists of 4 videos of almost an hour of card fun from the 80's through 2010 with a bunch of rack packs and other fun.

Update: The Sisler will go to the Orioles as I was informed that the St. Louis Browns became the O's.

   That's a whole lot of cards for you. A few people have hit the 100 card mark. The counts are updated so you can see where you stack up. Not to worry if you have the Rays, D-Backs, and Rockies, most of the stuff left includes them.

   I hope you are all enjoying the break so far, If I had to guess I would say we have hit the half way point and still have some great stuff left. The hit count is up to 11 after the auto today and we should have at least 7 more from the two boxes left along with the UD Documentary that has yet to be revealed and who knows what the loose packs left will have. We have been very lucky so far so I hope we can keep it up.

Hello all, I have some more loose packs for today's group break installment. I think it was a good day but you be the judge.

I am very happy to see multiple hits come out. It's ironic that the pack that assured the hit had a long expired redemption but I am happy to throw in a T-96 auto I have from a Pack Rip Cafe post. I may have said that it would go to the A's but it's only fair to random it off among all the teams (except mine). I apologize to Scott for saying it would go to the A's but I want to be fair to all. I am real happy with the Beltran hit but I have to say the Adam Jones bat is a great looking card. I think every team got at least one card out of this round if I remember correctly. The count page is updated. Let's see a few more of the Documentary teams.

What a Finish in the 500 and More Teams Eliminated for the Documentary Auto Hit.

Hey all. Just finished watching the Daytona 500 and what a finish. When my favorite drivers ended up out of the running (Waltrip and Burton) I was glad to see the Wood brothers get their #21 into victory lane after ten years with a kid who just turned 20 yesterday. For those who don't know, the Woods were extremely influential in many of the modern engineering marvels in today's Nascar and were one of the greatest teams in the 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's. They have had legendary drivers win for them back in the day and have given some of the biggest drivers in the sport there first rides.

Loose Packs Continue the Group Break Plus the Beginning of the Documentary Box

Hey all. The break continues today with a bunch of loose packs and then the beginning of the Upper Deck Documentary box. First the loose packs. I have 2 videos, one baseball and one football with a couple of baseball. There was supposed to be a third video with more baseball in the middle but I somehow deleted it by mistake after all the cards were sorted and added to their respective team stacks so I can't even retake the video. I apologize for that but I will say the missing video was the least exciting of the three so the best cards from today will be seen and I do have pictures of any real special cards after the videos.

There you have it. A couple of surprise hits on the football side. Here are the best from the lot.

Now I said earlier that I had the beginning of the 2008 Upper Deck Documentary box. I started to video that box and quite frankly, it was quite boring so what I have decided to do was open and sort all the box and I will show off a few teams each post so you can see all the cards from each team without having to watch a long and boring video. I also will not show the team that got the auto hit until last so you really do not want to see your team until last. I will tell you that none of my teams (Mets, Yankees, Marlins, Angels, or Brewers) got the auto so I won't bother showing those teams.

As you can see, the Padres are the only one of these first three teams to get any of the gold parallels with the "2008' on them. The way they put this box together, only a few (4 or 5 I think) teams got any of the gold parallels. Also you may notice that the Red Sox appear to have gotten 2 of the same cards but upon closer review they are from 2 different games and are 2 different card numbers so it's just a case of them using the same picture on different cards. I don't believe there were any duplicates in this box but there will be more examples of them using the same picture on different cards as we move along.

Once again I apologize for the video mess up on my part.

Hey all. Time is short today (sorry) so I have just the 2008 Topps Heritage Updates blaster for today's part of the group break. I should have time this weekend to knock out a bunch of stuff for the break.

Not bad, not great. A few black back parallels and a couple of sn'd chromes (one refractor) were cool.

The Jumbo Repacks Are Opened

Hello again all. I promised yesterday that the jumbo repacks were opened and here are the videos. There was quite the variety of overproduced wax (I heard that term from hiflew, aka Johnny, over at Cards From the Quarry and I like it much better then the term junk wax). There were four of these included and I added another one as a bonus pack so 500 cards are coming out. The say one of every four has a memorabilia card so let's see if we got lucky. There they are. That's a lot of cards all at once. I said in the video that I was not going to send the doubles from these packs but I decided that I will so all the cards will go out. If you do not want the doubles let me know and if you are willing to trade your doubles for some of my doubles let me know since there were a few that I can use. The counts are up to date on the side bar page. Sorry to the Rays and D-Backs because they were shut out while the Rockies only netted 3 cards. I didn't realize they wouldn't be represented in these packs, Not to worry though as there are many more packs to open.

He's smiling since we got 2 hits. I can't wait to see what he will do if a Mets hit comes out. (I hope)

I Finally Got My Hands On Some 2011 Topps

    Hello all. Today I take a break from the group break to show off some stuff I got from 2011 Topps. Well not a real break as I did video for the 4 jumbo repacks plus another one as a bonus pack but you will have to wait til tomorrow for that. (I have a teaser picture at the bottom of this post).
    When none of the 3 card shops in my traveling distance still had no 2011 Topps and neither did my local Target have even a sniff so I finally broke down and went the ebay route and ordered a jumbo box. I think I did ok at $115 with free shipping but it does piss me off that last year I got my jumbo boxes of both series one and two for $90 and & $85 respectively at my LCS. I really don't like to not use my LCS for boxes as I like the owners and want to give them my business but once again Topps screws the local guy by delaying shipping and jacking the prices and I didn't want to miss out so I bit the bullet. It arrived last Thursday but I finally got around to sorting it today after running errands with the wife.
    Any way I am happy with what came in the box. I completed the base 1-330 and got an extra hit.

The highlights of the sparkles is the Dillon Gee (Mets). It's the only one I really need so if you have any Mets or Yankees sparkles let me know.

I also got 1 black /60

Interestingly only 5 golds this year. Used to be one per jumbo pack.

Now for the hits.

The Sabathia manu glove looks pretty cool and at least Albaldejo is a Yankee. I redeemed the Bourjos auto today so we will see how long it takes, when it arrives it will be for trade. The Votto silk is way cool, I will trade it for a Mets silk though. I think that the extra hit may be instead of any of the variation cards as I didn't get any of those.
We all have seen the reviews all over the place so I will just say I like this years set a lot. People complained about them rehashing last years insert sets but I liked them last year so I like them again this year too. All in all, a good release from Topps in my opinion.

While running errands today I took my wife out to brunch, a restaurant conveniently near one of the card shops, and afterwards I ducked in and they finally had some 2011's so I grabbed 2 jumbo packs along with a few game used cards from 3 for 5 box. The girl behind the counter had the mojo as she gave me 2 hit packs!

A Price manu glove and a Mariano Rivera game used card. A couple more sparkles but no golds. The Price is available for the right price. (Groan, I didn't just say that did I?)

There it is, my jump into 2011 Topps. I am pretty happy with the results. I am chasing all but one of the insert sets and have a need list up on the sidebar pages so count me in for trading action.

I said in the beginning of this post that I had a group break teaser so here it is.

Five jumbo 100 card repacks all sorted by teams. I did the videos today, it took 3 due to time. Now I won't lie and say it's all great stuff but there is some great overproduction era wax in there (notice how I didn't say junk wax. I read that somewhere but can't remember where to give the proper credit). There really is some cool stuff and there is a chance for a hit in these repacks so you will have to come back tomorrow and see the results.

The teams I ended up with are not included so these are all yours break participants.

I have become a big fan of the Masterpieces over the last year or so. They look great.

Group Break Has Begun!

Hello all. It is finally time to begin the group break! We start with a 2008 Topps Opening Day blaster and then some loose packs in the second video. I will also be putting up a page on the side bar with a count of what each team has gotten as we go along. Not sure if it will be updated tonight but soon I hope.

I made a mistake on the Upper Deck rack pack, I said it was 2009 when it's really from 2008. Sorry for the mistake.

Time's Running Out To Get Into The Group Break plus Some more Packs Into the Pot.

Hey all. Just a quick reminder about my group break that will begin either tomorrow or Monday depending on my schedule. We still have 5 slots left If you want to get in before it's too late. The D-Backs, Angels, Brewers, Pirates, and Marlins are left. Along with one of those teams you will get to choose an NFL team to go with it as I have some football packs to add some variety to the break. HERE are all the details on the sign up post. Jump on in before it's too late, time's running out.

While I was out today running errands I decided to stop by the local Target store to pick up a new hair dryer since my wife and daughter have put another one to rest yesterday and I figured I would see if they had any 2011 Topps in stock. Well there was not a single 2011 card to be had, I don't even think they have stocked them yet since there wasn't even an empty gravity feeder of 2011 tag on any of the empty racks. I feel so left out as I haven't even touched a 2011 card yet while I read all these posts with the series one breaks. I will be getting some soon and from what I have seen I will be chasing several of the insert sets again this year as I did last year so hang on to those doubles for me people. My loss is the group participants gain as I grabbed some more stuff to throw into the break since I was shut out of 2011 packs. Twelve more loose packs for the break.

I have also decided to offer any of the football teams not claimed to people in the break at a cost of $5 or an interesting trade offer. That's right, If you are in the break you can grab another football team for $5 or an interesting trade offer. The NFL teams left are the Cardinals, Falcons, Bills, Jaguars, Chiefs, Raiders, 49'ers, and Buccaneers. These teams can be had at bargain basement prices to members of the break. Any body interested can e-mail me and if nobody new picks up one of the 5 remaining baseball teams and picks a football team they can be yours.
